The Wild Atlantic Rainforest Project seeks to restore temperate rainforests. Temperate rainforests are a rare and internationally significant piece of Ireland’s natural heritage.

This acre will give them a chance to re-establish themselves on the land through planting and natural regeneration. To return back to a rich and diverse habitat of ferns, mosses, lichens, and create shelter and homes for many insects, flora and fauna.

Native trees hold a rich value in Irelands biodiversity. Oak and willow can hold up 300 different species of insects per tree and up to 10,000 individual insects. Increased native woodland increases habitats for animals such as the Pine Martin, Red Squirrel, Irish Stoat, Hen Harrier, Jay, Coal Tit and Cross Bill - just to name a tew.
